Paws With Claus: Bourne Rec Will Bring Pets Together For Holiday Fun

The Bourne Receration Department will be hosting its first dog-friendly event, Paws With Claus, on December 14.

Recreation director Krissanne Caron went before the select board last week for approval of the event, which will take place on Wednesday, December 14, at Buzzards Bay Park from 6 to 7 PM.

“In the past, we have discouraged families from bringing their dogs to our large events for a variety of reasons,” Ms. Caron said. “But dogs are part of many families, and we didn’t want them to continue to feel left out, so we put together a dog-friendly Santa meet-and-greet where our dog community can get into the holiday spirit.”

Residents are invited to bring their furry four-legged friends to the event and get pictures with Santa Claus, socialize with other dogs and indulge in special treats—like Pup Cups, aka a cup full of whipped cream!

The event will require pre-registration, which can be done on the Bourne Rec’s website. It is free to attend for Bourne residents. Any dogs attending must be licensed within the town, kept on a short leash, be up to date on all vaccines, and free of infectious illnesses. Capacity is limited to 50 participants.
