Fire Causes Power Outages Near MacArthur Boulevard

The Bourne Police Department is advising caution to drivers in the area of MacArthur Boulevard and Sandwich Road following a reported utility pole fire in the area.

The department posted on Facebook late Monday morning, October 30, that a utility pole had caught fire, causing power outages in the area of MacArthur Boulevard, from Colonel Drive to the South Rotary, and portions of Sandwich Road. A transformer is believed to have been the cause of the fire.

Eversource is already working to restore power to the affected areas, police said. There are no roads closed at this time, the department said, but drivers are urged to use caution as there may be an officer detail directing traffic through the areas.

Eversource has estimated that power will be restored by 3:45 PM. Residents can stay up to date by checking the Eversource outage map at https://outagemap.eversource.com/external/default.html
