Family Mourns Bourne Woman Found Dead In New Hampshire
A woman who went missing from Sagamore Beach on Friday, August 4 was reportedly found dead in Bartlett, New Hampshire on Saturday.
Forty-five year old Amy L. Anderson was reported missing to the Bourne Police Department by her family on Friday. According to the missing persons flyer shared by the Bourne police on Facebook, Ms. Anderson was last seen at her home in Sagamore Beach around 6:30 AM that morning.
Updates on the search were shared on Facebook by both the BPD and Ms. Anderson’s family. One update, posted at 3:25 PM on Saturday by a family member, said that Ms. Anderson’s red 2005 Camry XLE was located in Bartlett, New Hampshire. Ms. Anderson’s belongings were found in her car, which was found in the area of Cathedral Ledge and Echo State Park, a popular hiking and recreation area in the White Mountains.
BPD also shared the missing persons poster and appealed to the public for help, adding that local authorities in New Hampshire were aware and assisting in the search. Between the two Facebook posts, Ms. Anderson’s missing persons poster was shared nearly 1,500 times.
The BPD updated their post at 9:25 PM with the news that Ms. Anderson had been located but was deceased. No further information was available from the police department, but a personal post on Saturday around the same time from Ms. Anderson's son AJ Campinha, who chronicled the search online, expressed gratitude to both law enforcement and the public for their help and support.
Mr. Campinha shared another public statement on Facebook on Tuesday, August 8, again thanking the public and law enforcement and sharing a message from him on behalf of Ms. Anderson's family.
“I am overwhelmed by the support, love, and empathy that my family and I have received over the last few days following my mother’s passing,” Mr. Campinha wrote. “It brings a great amount of joy to hear, see, and read all of the happy memories that you have shared with her.”
In thanking law enforcement in both Massachusetts and New Hampshire, Mr. Campinha said that the “swift actions, dedication, vigilance, and conscientious efforts do not go without immense appreciation from my family and myself.”
“The physical, mental, and emotional toughness of a public official does not go unnoticed,” he wrote.
Mr. Campinha asked that the public refrain from any speculation regarding the situation. Services for Ms. Anderson are still being organized, he wrote, and an obituary with information about those services will be written and released by the family when they are ready.
At the end of his Facebook post, Mr. Campinha implored readers to check on their friends, family, and loved ones often.
“Let them know they are not alone now, or ever,” he said. “Let them know that you are there to help.”
