News From The Newsroom - Editorial
Recent weeks have brought staffing changes to the Enterprise newsroom, specifically to our Bourne team, that we thought would be pertinent to share with our readers.
This week, we welcome a new full-time reporter to the Bourne team. Jamie Perkins has joined our newsroom as the full-time reporter covering Bourne. They will take over the role from longtime Bourne Enterprise reporter Michael Rausch, who has reliably been this paper’s full-time reporter for a number of years. Mike has taken on a new part-time role and will continue to report for The Bourne Enterprise, just in a reduced capacity.
Over the years, Mike has provided Enterprise readers with consistent reporting of the highest caliber on a number of topics of critical impact to the Cape Cod region. Bourne’s residents, both year-round and seasonal, have enjoyed the very ground-level community journalism that so many towns and counties across the nation are starved for. Mike’s contributions have been invaluable. We think our readers will quickly agree.
That said, we look forward to what the future brings and to integrating Jamie into the Town of Bourne in the same way that Mike has been. Jamie joins our newsroom from Simmons University in Boston, where they earned a degree in Communications with concentrations in both Photography and Journalism. They have spent this week getting to know Bourne and some of its people, and will soon become a recognizable face for those who frequent town meetings, public hearings, and community events. Jamie can be reached by email at perkins@capenews.net.
In other Enterprise news, we would like to thank our summer newsroom interns Kelly Broder and Trinity Poon for all of their hard work this summer. Their contributions to our coverage of the Upper Cape in recent months has been spectacular, and we wish them both the best as they return to their respective college campuses to start the new school year.
And finally, Bourne editor Calli Remillard has taken on a new role. She will now oversee both the Bourne and Mashpee Enterprise newspapers in a dual-editor role. Calli began this role at the end of July and is greatly enjoying her time getting to know Mashpee and working to understand its people, places, and issues as intimately as she knows Bourne’s. As always, Calli can be reached by email at remillard@capenews.net.
We hope our readers share our excitement about these new developments. Despite the staffing changes, our commitment to you remains the same as it has for more than a century: to provide high-quality, accurate and timely reporting on what is going on in our communities. We look forward to ushering in a new generation of local news reporters with this enduring mission of ours in mind.
