Falmouth D'Angelo Holding Fundraiser For Loving Lisa

After a successful event on May 22 to benefit Lisa Caines, a longtime US Postal Service worker in the Main Street area who was diagnosed with breast cancer in early February, the Loving Lisa group has once again teamed up with a local business to benefit its colleague.

Working with the First Congregational Church, D’Angelo Grilled Sandwiches at 689 Main Street has arranged for 20 percent of all sales on Friday and Saturday, June 24, and 25, to go directly to Ms. Caines.

Crystal Mello, a friend and colleague of Ms. Caines, said Falmouth D’Angelo manager Marcello Hill wanted to go above and beyond to help, in addition to having donated food for the May event at Falmouth Elks.

Ms. Mello said the May event for Ms. Caines was successful, with more than 60 prizes donated to raffle off to the crowd of attendees. She said many donations were collected and laughs were had as dozens of community members flocked to the Elks to support Ms. Caines.

“She was super excited,” Ms. Mello said. “She was there through the entire thing.”

Ms. Caines is still undergoing treatment, the cost of which is mounting. But thanks to the partnership with the local D’Angelo restaurant, the hope is that some of that financial pressure will be relieved.

To participate in the fundraiser, patrons simply need to mention the Loving Lisa fundraiser and 20 percent of all sales from Friday and Saturday will go directly to Ms. Caines.
